Research shows that The Fourth of July is the busiest time of the year for Humane Societies. More dogs are found roaming the streets on July 4th than any other day of the year. Follow these helpful tips to make sure you keep your furry friends calm and safe during this holiday!

1. Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise prior to the fireworks! – A tired dog is less anxious, and less inclined to run away.

2. Full Belly! – Similar to humans, dogs are more comfortable, calm, and tired after eating.

3. Keep your dog with you! – Your dog will more than likely feel more comfortable by your side rather than in a crate or locked in the house.

4. Get a blanket – A cover will typically help your dog feel safer and more comfortable.

5. Treats! – Toys & treats will help distract your dog from the loud noises!
